Easter Saturday

I love spur of the moment adventures and today was one of them. As there were no plans for the day Sandy told us to jump in the car and so our adventure began.

First stop was Carrington Falls.

At the top of the falls there is a great area for walking in the water and having a paddle around. Sandy likes to say that he is walking on water. Of course as soon as we got there E wanted her shoes off there and then. My only concern was that if she slipped over we had no spare clothes !!! Not to worry no accidents today just 2 VERY happy kids and 2 happy parents !!

See walking on water !!
I was happy to sit back, watch and be the photographer.
Next stop on the adventure was a quick drive around to the other side of the falls and a new view of this beautiful place we live in at Warris Chair.

Man that ledge was high when I turned around !!
Each time we go for a hike the kids always pick up a "walking stick". E's stick morphed into so may things on this trip. First it was a poking stick for the ant holes (which was not a favorite of mine!) then a sword to cut down the trees, a walking stick, a kangaroo tail and finally a horse. On the return trip she even found a few flowers to make the horses mane !! Imagination is a great thing.

E's horse with its flower main !!
Next stop was Nellies Glen a beautiful water hole with a waterfall. This could be a great spot to have a swim but not today !!

Next stop (see I told you this was an adventure !!) was Fitzroy Falls. This was where the Moore family was started. Fitzroy Falls was the destination for our first date and where Sandy proposed to me so of course this is a pretty special place.

Love this place xxx

We tried to have the kids take a pic of the two of us at the falls but none turned out so the kids had theirs taken instead !!

The next picture is of the sign outside the toilets at the Falls as they are "drop" toilets !!

So after lunch at the falls back off in the car again to another beautiful look out near by that none of us have ever been to before.

Manning Lookout
What a cute couple hey ?? !!! xxxxx
This was the cutie that greeted us at our last stop !!
Last stop on the trip was afternoon tea at Camberwarra Mountain. The view is fantastic from here and I have to say afternoon tea was beautiful but EXPENSIVE !!!

A few weeks ago a fierce storm tore through Kiama and further south. In the end they think that 5 tornado's touched down that night and caused lots of damage. On the drive home we got to see just how bad it was. A whole section of the bush on the highway was torn apart so of course photos were taken !!

It was a very strange scene. The highway is covered both sides with bush and then you can see that there is a clearing coming up but when you get there it looks like a bomb has gone off. Bits of trees were everywhere and no leaves left. It made me think that a giant has come along and broken all the twigs !!!

So that concludes our spur of the moment adventure. The kids were fantastic and had a great time. This is what life is about, getting out there and having fun.

Two very sleepy kids !!

  1. Those are some amazing falls! What a totally cool non-planned adventure! I was a little shocked when I read "this is where the moore family was started" I was thinking -to much information, and who knew Donna would do "it" in the wilderness!!!! Lol! Then I read on, and then understood! :)
