Wow have I been a bit slack. I have been home now for 4 weeks and only up to Day 2 in Paris. Hopefully I can catch up pretty quick so keep watching.
So Day 2 saw us head for the Eiffel Tower to check it all out. It was a little wet but that didn't dampen our spirits !!
When we were asking for directions at the train station the lady told us that when you come out of the station the Tower will be right in front of you. Well when we came out of the station Jim and I were looking around like crazy tourists trying to find it. No luck !!! There was a large building on the left of us and a road on the right, but we saw a clearing and followed the crowd. And this is what we found ......
| PERFECTION !!! |
It took everything for me not to bawl my eyes out there and then !!! I have thought about being here for such a long, long time and to actually be looking at it with my own eyes was amazing.
| How cute am I !!!! |
| We started up between those two buildings. |
The above picture is directly opposite the Tower and was were we came out from the train station.
| My favourite picture from the tower. |
I am thinking about having the above picture blown up and framed for our new house as a permanent reminder of my wonderful trip.
After our Tower run it was off to the Paris Opera House for our guided tour. The Opera House was a favourite place for me as it is where the Phantom of the Opera is set. An interesting fact we found out during our tour was that Europe have not heard of the Phantom of the Opera, it is an American and Australian story !! We were also a little disappointed to find out that there is no lake under the Opera House nor did the Chandelier drop from the ceiling :( There is however a water table under the house and 1 rope from the chandelier did break and dropped the light slightly and killed a poor woman.
| The foyer of the Opera House was beautiful. |
| The beautiful ceiling in the theatre with the chandelier !! |
Some interesting information from our tour. The inside of the theatre was made from matt gold so that everyone would look at the beautiful woman and their pretty dresses rather than the gold details. The theatre was decorated in the red colour to reflect off the ladies skin and make her look more rosey !!! It was all about making sure the woman looked their best as this was one time that they could dress up and find a husband !!! You were also not allowed to take pictures of any of the staff at the theatre due to people posting pictures on social networks !!! Funny but that is the rules !!
| The detail to all walls and ceilings was beautiful. |
| Photos don't do it justice. |
| Looking out from the front verandah. |
| This is just the stair case !!! All made from marble. |
| These pretty lights were for sale. I wish I could have bought some home. |
After our grand tour of the Opera House we decided to head to the Hard Rock Café for dinner which was in walking distance from our hotel.
| Had to take a picture of this for mum !!! |
| A great way to end the day. |
Another full on day in Paris finished with a great meal at the Hard Rock. We have walked our little legs off !!! No wonder I didn't put any weight on while I was away. Bonus !!! Our next adventure we are headed on the train to the Palace of Versailles.
