Cockington Green and Dinosaurs

Six weeks after I arrived back home I was off again but this time with my family in tow. Since I had been gone so long it was time for a much needed family getaway to Canberra. We hadn't been for a really long time and it is a great place to take kids, so we packed up the car and off we went.

We tried to pack in as much as we could each day which was great fun but very tiring at the same time. Day 1 we packed in Cockington Green, the Dinosaur Museum and a lookout above the War Memorial.

It's funny how you remember things. I remember going to Cockington Green as a child and once as an adult and always thought the place was pretty large but this time when I went it was very compact and small but everything I remembered was still there. Funny how the memory works. It was great to go back with my own kids to see what they thought of the place, and happy to say that they loved it.

Windmills on the way

Found this sign on the footpath both funny and scary !!

Love the house entry at Cockington Green

The miniature version of the house

Football game complete with a streaker !

Nothing compares to the real thing !!

Love these guys more than they will ever know xxx

Next stop the Dinosaur Museum. What a cool place and that's even before we have walked through the door. All the dinosaurs outside are easy access all day every day. I would love to have brought them all home !!

I highly recommend the place to anyone whether you like dinosaurs or not and it was great for the kids as they had a list of questions to answer and they got a prize at the end. Now to head to the lookout and have a good look around !!!

Bittersweet Farewell

It is with great sadness that I post this final post on my amazing trip to the UK. After 4 wonderful weeks it was time to say goodbye to the mother land and a big hello to my husband, kids, family and friends. I totally loved every minute of this trip but did miss my home life.

So here are some pictures taken on the last day of our trip. We managed to pack a fair bit into the last day as our flight didn't leave from Gatwick Airport till after 9pm.

First stop was a double decker bus tour of the area, we couldn't stay on the bus to long as we also needed to get to the London Eye and also a boat cruise. The commentary was great and did see lots along the way.

Popcorn stacked out the front of the movie theatre.

Home of the Phantom of the Opera

The Queens gate

Hard Rock Café, number 2 crossed of my list of cafes !!

Hotel where Kate stayed and got ready for her wedding to Prince William
The London Dungeons. Mostly the same as Blackpool which I enjoyed more.

The London Eye was such a great thing to look at and a great ride. Before we entered the VERY long line for a ride there was a 4D show that was included with the tickets. It was much like the one at Blackpool Tower but again like the Dungeons the Blackpool experience was much better. We also purchased some great photos that included keyrings and fridge magnets. Always great souvenirs !!!

The line up time was about 45 minutes for the eye which was the time it takes to make 1 go round. The line was massive and we thought we would be there all day but it flowed really well.

And we're off !!
The queue wound around the bottom of the eye then jumped across the
pathway and coiled around the circular building you can see in the picture.

At the top, woohoo !!

I love the camera that takes each pods picture as they come through.
Of course bought that picture too !!
Next item on the list of things to do was a boat cruise on the Thames which was included with the London Pass that we purchased.

Smile Jim one last time !!!

I took this picture for all the lines created by the many planes that frequently fly over the area.

The real London Bridge

and this is Tower  Bridge, not to be confused

Last time I will travel up these VERY steep escalators
to grab our bags and head home.

Thank you England, you have shown me one of the best times in my life that I will forever hold close in my heart. I am already looking forward to a return trip with my little family. A MASSIVE thank you to Uncle Jim for being the best travel buddy and without you this whole trip would not have been possible. Thanks again xxxx
