Overflowing

This summer has been far from hot and sunny. In fact you can count the number of sunny days on two hands. In the past couple of weeks the rain has not stopped, so for the first time in 10 years all the major dams are full and over flowing.

On the first partly sunny day for a long time we headed to our local dams to check things out. First stop was Cataract Dam. This is my favourite.

The force of the water was awesome.

The noise was tremendous.

Next stop on our adventure was the Nepean Dam. Not as pretty as Cataract but just as full !!

This dam flows down a concrete slope and into a channel.

Finally flowing out. Unfortunately you can't get any closer.

Last but not least was Cordeaux Dam. I used to go to this dam every year when I was in primary school. The walk down and back was always a killer. So lucky we had the car to drive down right to it with everyone else who was doing the same thing !!

 

So as the rain continues to fall and parts of the state become flooded we all pray for a little sunshine to ease the crisis that people are facing right now. Some parts of the country have been flooded more than 5 times already this year. Although it is great to see so much water and the dams full it is creating heart break down stream. Fingers crossed for a dryer autumn.
