Grading November 2012

Yes I am very late posting this blog but have been super busy, so look out for a few blogs back to back.

Grading for Taekidokai is always an exciting time when we are able to see how well the kids are going and watch them gain more confidence. This grading however was extra special as it was E's first time grading.

E is quite a quiet child when it comes to doing new things and for some reason doesn't like males. She will not go to a male doctor nor a male dentist. I am surprised that she will talk to Santa !! So we then had to find her a female Taekido teacher which meant that we had to change classes.

With E being so quiet we wondered how she would go and poor Sandy was the one that had to take her. For the first few weeks he also had to train on the floor with her cause she was to scared to be there by herself.

So with that we wondered what she would be like at the Grading Test. Even her instructor was a little nervous about what she might and might not do as she was not the one to grade her, it was a MALE. But to all our amazement she was on the floor by herself and followed every instruction given to her !!!

How cute does she look in C's old uniform !!
Warming up just like the rest of the kids !!
Her actual grading exam.
Yippee she passed. Getting her new belt from Sensei
All showing off their certificates as they pass white belt !!
Next it was C's turn to try her hand at getting an orange belt. The Orange belt is the senior end of the Junior section.

E sat down to watch C and put both arms around her grandmas. Too cute xx
This was before grading. Don't mess with her !!
C's actual grading.
Yippee another pass !!
One very proud orange belt !!
We are so proud of both our girls, they were fantastic on the day and E was so brave to get up there on her own. Her instructor was also very proud and gave her a massive hug !!

If both girls keep up their good work they may be able to grade back to back. And if C really keeps it up and trains hard she will be breaking boards by the end of the year. Good work girls xxxx

School Holiday Fun.

The first week of the school holidays was great with our little trip away and the second week was just as good although a little less hectic.

In between all the running around with the house, eye appointments and the usual things we were able to fit in a play date with some of the kids from E's class.

Hangdog Climbing Gym is an indoor rock climbing centre that C has been bugging me about for a while. Some of the other kids have also been talking about it so that is where we decided to go.

What a fantastic place. For $15.00 for the kids you can stay all day, it's open from 9am to 9pm. Once you have paid the entry fee you are free to come and go as you please for the whole day !!

After we all arrived there was a big group demonstration for the climbers and rope holders. I was so happy when C put her hand up to help demonstrate. She is getting more confident every day !!!

Demonstrating going UP !!!
Demonstrating coming DOWN !!!
C did SO well, like a rat up a drain pipe !!
Coming down gracefully !!!
The kids found this wall a little more exciting.
Easier for us to. No having to hold onto them !!
Hello Imogen, E's best friend.
Holly had a great time to !!
C had a great time.

Owen and his two girlfriends !!!
and with Holly
I have to say that this has been one of my favorite play days. The kids all had a great time and there was no fighting, whinging or crying and that is ALWAYS a great thing !!

Our other little adventure was to Bungonia Gorge on the Southern Highlands. Sandy has been wanting to get here for a while and since we were all off, it was a great opportunity to get out.

There are lots of great walking tracks.
The only problem was the wind !!!
The open cut Lime Stone mine as been operating since the 1800's.
So that concludes the Spring school holidays. We have had a great time and done heaps of great things. It's always great when we all have the time off together. Hopefully next school holidays there will be some progress on the new house and we will be living with Nan !! Fingers crossed !!
